Rigobert Song Playing Career

Song began his professional career at Metz, where he contributed to the club’s 1996 Coupe de la Ligue triumph. In 137 appearances for Cameroon (1993–2010), Rigobert Song scored 5 goals. Song was a versatile defender who can play both positions at the back. He represented Cameroon in 8 Africa Cup of Nations games, 8 of which he led his country.

In 2000 and 2002, Song won two Africa Cup of Nations championships. Rigobert Song participated in 1994, 1998, 2002, and 2010 World Cups. In 1994, at the age of 17, the defender became the youngest player ever to be sent home from a World Cup.
