Republican presidential nominee and former President Donald Trump plans to finalize his pick for the Republican vice presidential nomination on Monday, according to his campaign.

Fox News anchor Bret Baier said Monday morning he spoke on the phone with the former president, who told him the decision will be made later in the day. The Trump campaign confirmed that report, and said an announcement would be made around 4 p.m. ET.

The decision will come two days after an assassination attempt against Trump at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The former president was shot in the ear, narrowly avoiding a fatal blow to the head.

President Biden, who Trump will face at the ballot box in November, said Sunday the political temperature in the U.S. needs to be brought down.

Names floated as possible Trump vice presidential picks include Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., Gov.Doug Burgum, R-N.D., Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., and Rep.Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y.
