Tottenham Hotspurs’ top goalscorer- A story!

One of the most clinical strikers and center-forwards in Premier League history, Teddy Sheringham was the top-scorer for Lillywhites in their first-ever Premier League season. He scored 21 goals from 38 games but Manchester United ran away with the title. He was once again the leading scorer for Tottenham in 1993/94, after he banged 13 goals from 19 games.

Jurgen Klinsmann scored 20 goals in the 1994/95 season. The German international had featured in 41 games for Spurs but it was not enough for them to win the title. One of the unluckiest strikers in the history of the Premier League once again topped the charts for Tottenham Hotspur in the 1995/96 and 1996/97 seasons. He scored 16 and seven goals in the respective seasons for Spurs.

Teddy Sheringham and Jurgen Klinsmann exchanged positions in the alternate seasons. However, it was Stefen Iversen who broke the tradition. He topped the charts in the 1998/99 season with nine goals to his name. Chris Armstrong, Les Ferdinand, and Gustavo Poyet shared the podium before Teddy Sheringham reached the pinnacle again in the 2001/02 season.

In the new decade of the 21st century, it was Robbie Keane and Dimitar Berbatov who fought for the top position. After topping the charts in the 2006/07 and 2007/08 seasons, Berbatov made his move away to Manchester United to win the titles. In the 2012/13 season, Gareth Bale scored 21 goals before sealing his move to Real Madrid.

Since 2014/15, it is always the English skipper, Harry Kane who has been Tottenham Hotspurs’ top goalscorer. He has consecutively clocked 17+ goals in that season in the English top flight. However, the team has failed to help him win the English Premier League title. Harry Kane’s best goalscoring season came in 2017/18 when he banged 30 goals for the Spurs. He won the “Golden Boot” in the 2020/21 season.
