HITC understands Manchester United have turned down an approach from one of Europe’s biggest clubs for Amad Diallo.

The 21-year-old signed for the Premier League giants in 2021 and only made his true mark on the team during the recently concluded season.

Even though Erik ten Hag watched Manchester United record their worst league finish in over three decades, a player like Amad Diallo was still one of the bright sparks of the campaign.

That was helped by Manchester United’s FA Cup final win over Manchester City – Amad’s role was very significant because of his stoppage-time winner in extra-time against Liverpool in the quarter-finals.

Even though Amad is in the very early years of his career, that is a moment that will go down as one of the best in Manchester United’s history because of how it happened and everything surrounding it.

Willing to pay more than £30m for Amad Diallo

HITC can reveal via sources that an unnamed European ‘giant’ was ready and willing to take Amad off Manchester United’s hands and would have been willing to pay more than £30million for the Ivorian.

However, Manchester United have made it clear they have ‘zero interest’ in allowing Amad to leave the club as he is now considered of huge importance to the first-team by ten Hag.

The Dutchman has signed a new contract at Old Trafford and will stay beyond the summer after speculation over his future once the season finished.

Amad was increasingly used towards the end of the season, scoring crucial goals in the FA Cup win over Liverpool and Premier League success against Newcastle.

HITC can confirm that Manchester United are now pushing to tie Amad down to a new deal, with new sporting director Dan Ashworth looking to players who have contract issues that need resolving, having finalised a new deal for manager ten Hag.

After a long wait, the FA Cup winners managed to prize away Ashworth from St James’ Park and now he can properly get to work.
