    Perrysburg hockey went 1-2 in Northwest Hockey Conference Red Division games over the weekend to fall to 15-16-3 overall and 3-8 in the league, good enough for fifth place ahead of Toledo St. John’s and Anthony Wayne.

    On Friday at Bowling Green State University’s Slater Family Ice Arena, the Yellow Jackets defeated AW (5-24-1, 0-9), 6-1, but they returned to Slater on Saturday, only to lose to Findlay, (18-9-5, 7-1-2), 3-1.

    On Sunday, Perrysburg lost to Sylvania Northview (8-17-1, 4-5-1), 5-4, in a closely contested game at the Huntington Center in downtown Toledo.

    In the win against AW, nine different Yellow Jackets got into the scoring column, led by forward Jackson Baltzell, who had two goals and one assist.

    Ryan Butler had one goal and one assist and Seth Haney, Nick Callen, and Cole Christen scored one goal apiece. Darian Douglas, Carter Schaetzke, Caden Seiple, and Taylor Kregel had one assist each.

    In the loss to Findlay, Butler scored less than five minutes into the game, assisted by Seiple and Baltzell on a power play to give the Jackets a 1-0 lead, which held up until the third period.

    In the third, however, Findlay got two goals from Sam Swisher and one from Nate Riegle to pull away. Connor Stearns, Simon Tanner, and Riegle had assists on the Trojans’ scores.

    In the loss to Northview, three goals were scored in the final two minutes, but it was the Wildcats’ goal by Holden Brighty with 42.3 seconds remaining, assisted by Madden Brighty, that would prove to be the game winner.

    For Perrysburg, Seiple scored one shorthanded goal and he had an assist, Butler had one goal and two assists, Baltzell had a goal and an assist, and Trey Haney scored one goal. Anthony Pinski, Schaetzke, and Callen had assists for the Jackets.

    For the Wildcats, Keegan Draper scored a three-goal hat trick and Liam Diesing scored a goal. Ben Graeff had two assists and Liam Elliott, Johnny Rove and Landon Woodbury contributed one assist each.
